It works like this: The Sketchbook Project folks mail you a little blank book, and you fill it up with drawings and paintings and whatnot. Then you mail it back to them, and they put it in a sketchbook Library. Yup. A library. Full of mini art books folks can look at, and then return. No fines, either.
Long story short, Betsy filled up the book and got ready to mail the thing in. And I thought, "Why don't I take a look at her paintings and give her some valuable feedback before she sends it away?"
Sun & Moon
So I gave her some feedback, and here's the thanks I got:
a) She ignored every one of my suggestions, And
2. She entitled her sketchbook Unsolicited Comments from The Old Guy.
The Old Guy. Can you believe it? I’ve been told I don’t look a day over twenty-five. And this is a true fact: When I go into the Piggly Wiggly, the cashier won’t let me buy a single bottle of Bud Lite Lime without showing my ID, which means she's under the impression I'm not even of the legal drinking age.
I think that dang book title should be Unsolicited Comments From A Good-Looking Fella Who Tried To Help A Friend In Need And Not Only That, He Doesn't Look Old Enough To Buy A Bottle of Beer.
If you want to look at her sketchbook, I can’t stop you. But if you expect to see any sailboats or fruit in there, get ready to be sorely disappointed.
